Insider Tips

Things seasoned cruisers wish they knew

Wi-Fi

Basic browsing-level Wi-Fi is included. High-speed or streaming-quality access may require a paid upgrade on some ships.

All Drinks

A very small selection of rare vintage wines and ultra-premium spirits may carry a surcharge. These are marked on wine lists.

Port Shuttle

Shuttle service is not available at every port — it depends on the dock location and distance to town. Some ports have no shuttle.

Gratuities

Spa and salon treatments are charged separately and include their own automatic service charge on top.

Room Service

Caviar via room service may carry an additional charge on some ships, though it's often complimentary when ordered at restaurants.

Specialty Dining

Some ships offer limited-seat tasting menus or private chef experiences that carry a surcharge. La Terrazza on some ships requires reservations that fill quickly.

Booking

Shore excursions are NOT included on regular ocean voyages (they are included on expedition cruises). A separate 'All-Inclusive' fare option bundles excursions at a higher price.

Cancellation

Cancellation penalties begin at 150 days before sailing. The Essentials Fare (lowest price tier) is 100% non-refundable from the moment of booking.

General

Silversea's new fare structure offers three tiers (Essentials, Classic, All-Inclusive) with different inclusion levels. 'All-Inclusive' adds shore excursions but costs significantly more.

General

Spa and beauty treatments, send-out laundry, and onboard shop purchases are not included in any fare tier.
