Juneau is Alaska's state capital and one of the most visited cruise ports in North America, accessible only by sea or air as no roads connect it to the rest of the highway system. The Mendenhall Glacier, just 19 km from downtown, is a top attraction alongside whale-watching in Gastineau Channel and the Mount Roberts Tramway.
